I am interested in random mark, how colors bleed and merge, and the fluid work of gravity on the medium. I draw, paint and sculpt and have a particular interest in the subconscious mind and the interpretation of visual stimuli.. The subject matter found and created by means of a Rorschach method seems to reveal certain constructs of an emotional self. My work is influenced by the formal compositional elements emphasized by Abstract Expressionism and the ideas and methods used by the Surrealist Movement. I am a graduate of the Art Academy of Cincinnati, 2001. My work can currently be found at 1221 Art Space in Columbus, Ohio.
"This language of art, of composition and line, balance between illusion and form, of perception dependent upon both the observer and the observed, has no means to be quantified, justified, or explained apart without altering the substance it holds. My hands have owned my voice before I could ever make an explanation of them. Authenticity of voice resides in the brushwork of hands that cannot lie, no matter how awkward or unclear. The making of gesture, choice of subject matter, and media is telling, in the rhythm and balance or the lack thereof, in the use of material, sensitive or rushed... layered, tedious, free, or concealed". – Journal Entry
